Over the years this Lodge has had an abundance of musicians as members who performed free of charge at a moment’s notice.
Bro. Sir Jimmy Shand was an Honorary member of our Lodge.
Sir Jimmy could be seen regularly at our annual concerts,
where he entertained our concert goers
with his world famous Accordion.

Bro.Dugald Jenkins, the leader of The Heather Scottish Dance Band is an honorary member.
Bro. Dave Ireland from Fife, the left handed fiddler who played with Bro. Sir Jimmy Shand, was also an honorary member and a regular contributor to our musical events.
Bro. Angus Cameron the well known Scottish fiddle champion from Kirriemuir was a full member.
Bro. Rob. Gordon, also well known as a dance band leader was a regular attender. He also helped the lodge’s finances by printing raffle tickets etc. free of charge.
Bro. Jock Motion, a blacksmith who was well known locally as a whistler, diddler, mouth organ player, singer and story teller was also a member.
Past Master, Bro. Alex. Young was the regular fiddler who was called upon annually to make up a band for the annual dance. He did this for over sixty years until he was in his nineties.
Another Past Master, the late Geordie Rennie from Tealing, was an exceptional entertainer. He specialised in singing humorous songs and brought a lot of laughter to regular harmonies after the meetings.
Past Master Bro. Ken Findlay was another bothy ballad singer. Along with Past Master Bill Burns and others he ran the concert party, “Mickey Finn” and raised money for local charities.
Bro. Sandy Beattie from Letham, originally a “Fogieloaner” from Aberdeenshire, was a cornet player turned double-bassist who played for many years with the Foundry Bar Band. He was a saw miller. A compatriot who joined the lodge at the same time (1952) was Ian Redford from Kirriemuir, a talented button-key accordionist and band leader who later moved to Inverness.
We still have Bro. Ian Cruickshanks a band leader from Kirriemuir, who has broadcast many times and recorded countless records and CDs in our midst, along
with Past Master Jim Brown ex-Foundry Bar Band and Past Master Bill Burns, singer and story teller from Forfar who has entertained at hundreds of charity events.
The last three are currently the mainstay of any charity events held by the Lodge. Jimmy Sturrock and Bill Milligan who are members of the Ian Cruickshanks Dance Band have also appeared many times over the past twenty years at our various functions.
