ALEX CUMMING

Alex Cumming, Past Master of Lodge Dalhousie No 679 died on 8th November 2010.  He was a much respected honorary member of this Lodge.

Having recently retired as Head Forester, trees and Freemasonry were two of his passions.

He was a regular member of the Installing Board of The Lodge of Glammis No99 and as such, installed office bearers in various lodges in the Province as well as annually at Glammis where he frequently was Installing Master. On such occasions, his ritual work was impeccable and was delivered in a cool, calm manner.

He was also a regular competitor at our annual darts and dominoes competition for the Fairlie Cup.

KEN BURNETT

A senior member of the Lodge, Bro. Ken Burnett, who was in his eighties, died on 11th August, 2010.

Ken was a staunch member of the Lodge and also liked to visit other Lodges in the province. Although he preferred to remain in the columns he was always ready to step in at short notice if an office-bearer was absent. He was never stuck for words and made up his own ritual if his memory failed him and the end product was usually the same. He was particularly noticeable at harmonies where his stories, given in a broad Forfar accent, were always entertaining and, occasionally, near the knuckle. He will be missed.
